Tara Conklin received a J.D. from New York University School of Law, a Master of Law & Diplomacy from the Fletcher School at Tufts University, and a BA from Yale University. Her first novel “The House Girl” was a New York Times bestseller, #1 IndieNext pick, Target book club pick and has been translated into 8 languages. Tara short fiction has been published in the Bristol Short Story Prize Anthology and Pangea: Stories from Around the Globe.

Tara received 2015 GAP funding to support her research trip on her current novel “O and Z”, tackles issues of identity, marginality and “otherness” that have long factored as concerns in her life and work. The grant will cover her childcare costs for after-school hours while she travels to Louisiana State Penitentiary to interview a female guard and inmate and research the surrounding area.
