About

June T. Sanders is an artist and photographer from Kennewick, WA currently living in Spokane, WA. They earned their B.A. in Media Disparity, an interdisciplinary degree focusing on journalism, photography & critical media theory from Western Washington University. Their photography focuses on queer identity, intimacy, ruralness, and peripheral observations. They are quiet and questioning.

Tay received GAP 2016 funding for Claimed Pastures, which explores the complex and diverse queer identities that exist within rural areas. It attempts to challenge notions of what queer identity can look like and where it is located. Sanders set out to give representation to those who live on the fringes of society, in more way than one, challenging the politics of place.
