About

Terry Hunt is one of those rare individuals comfortable in all genres of music. With over 30 years of experience in the music industry, he has a Masters in music from the University of Denver’s Lamont School of Music in classical guitar and a Bachelors degree in music from University of Colorado at Boulder. He and his wife Pam are extremely active in music and are directors of the Pipestone School of Music in the Methow Valley which they founded. In his sixth season as conductor of the Okanogan Valley Orchestra, Terry has recently premiered several large works for choir and orchestra including The Stafford Poems and Gloria. He has won awards as both a composer and documentary filmmaker. Read Terry’s post about his Centrum Residency experience.

Terry received 2010 GAP Award funding for time to compose work for a large 30-minute multi-movement work for choir, orchestra, and tenor soloist to be performed in May 2011. The piece will be a tribute to one of the Northwest’s great poet, William Stafford, while celebrating a love of place, community, the natural world, and compassionate treatment of our fellow humans.
