About

A writer, carpenter, technical director, set designer, and theater producer, Terry Podgorski studied at the University of Michigan, where he organized a series of multimedia art extravaganzas—music, storytelling, screenings of local films, installation art, and readings—in empty retail spaces. He has worked in many capacities for organizations such as Circus Contraption, The Grand American Traveling Dime Museum.  Recently, Podgorski partnered to write, produce, and design Café Nordo, a blend of experiential dining and theater that won two Seattle Times Footlight Awards for Excellence in Theater. Currently the technical director for Degenerate Art Ensemble, Podgorski helps bring the group’s peculiar vision of the world to life. He is also the recipient of a 2013 CityArtist Project award from Seattle’s Office of Arts & Cultural Affairs.

In the fall of 2011 audiences will enter Café Nordo’s Cabinet of Wonders, a museum-like installation inspired by Renaissance and Victorian Cabinets of Curiosity: four rooms in which performance, scenic art, and sound scapes coalesce to tell the story of each course of a four-course dinner. Podgorski will use his 2011 GAP funds to complement wages, research the subject, and hire a videographer.
