Toby Campbell

Toby Campbell performs as Anomie Bell who, out of the alienating crush of suburban conformity, creates a swirl of sexuality, spirituality, and a critical opinion of consumer culture that weaves through her songwriting. Cinematic programming, organic instrumentation and electronic compliments define her production style, piqued with her unique vocals, heavy percussion, strings, and a smattering of synths. Anomie has toured with Little Dragon, Album Leaf, Tricky, Bajofondo, Sea Wolf, Emancipator and Ott, and collaborates with Mr. Lif, Yppah, Bluetech, members of the Sneaker Pimps, The Posies, and Trespassers William.

Toby received a 2013 GAP to support a project to compose, perform and record a 60-minute piece for violin, live drums, cello, electronic programming, synthesizer, electric guitar and voice. The theme centers on our experience of consumer society.
