About
Yuko Kodama grew up in Utah with her family who immigrated from Japan. She meandered to the Pacific Northwest in the ’90s.
With a 30+ year background in journalism and audio production, Yuko works to challenge stereotypes and encourage a more expansive understanding of our world and the social, economic and political issues we face. She does so by bringing forth interviews honoring the humanity and diverse lived experiences from our community.
Yuko was awarded a Walter Cronkite School of Journalism Award for Excellence in Reporting on Disability, and her pieces have been featured on All Things Considered, National Native News and Making Contact Radio. Locally, she’s the news editor at the South Seattle Emerald, and the former news director at KBCS FM. Prior to her work in Seattle, Yuko spent 10 years as a North and South America correspondent for programs on J-WAVE and ZIP FM in Japan.
