About

Zack Bent’s sculptures, photographs and videos are often mythic translations of his home, his family and the stuff he collects. Zack received degrees in architecture and environmental design from Ball State University and an MFA in photography from the University of Washington. Recent exhibitions of his work have included exhibits at PDX Contemporary (Portland), Crawl Space Gallery (Seattle), G.Gibson Gallery (Seattle), University of Calgary (Alberta CA) along with video screenings at the Weisman Museum of Art (MN), The Banff Center, and MVMA Fest (Marfa, TX).

Zack received a 2012 GAP to pay musicians for live performances of commissioned sound works. These works will act in tandem with his altered RV installation, a pop-up tent trailer dissected to extend its capacity by creating a structure that appears to explode from the original RV form. This recreational unit will function as a sculptural installation that embodies the spirit of modern outdoor exploration, its aim for solitude and natural intimacy, and the efficiency of carry-along domestic dwellings. He is also the recipient of a 2012 CityArts Project award which will help to fund this body of work as well.
