About
Zona Zanjeros is a performance artist and multimedia practitioner whose work merges sound, embodiment, and experimental media to examine the psychic fractures of the digital age. Based in Olympia, WA, with roots in NYC’s avant-garde scene, they lead Enemy Zero, a performance-driven descent into simulacra, where disintegrated identity, feedback loops, and sensory overload form the unstable architecture of a hyperreal stage. Their performances—rituals of noise, light, and distortion—confront the fragmentation of self in a culture defined by representation and surveillance. Zona also co-leads Sense/Net, a quadraphonic electroacoustic project grounded in psychoacoustic manipulation and aesthetics of control. In August 2025, they will present a 24-channel installation at Reforesters Laboratory’s Sound Clinic in Brooklyn. Their interdisciplinary events—Analog Sacrifice and Solar Slash—collapse boundaries between poetry, experimental music, performance art, and video, creating charged environments that blur media and meaning.
They co-founded Visceral Realists, an open-source computer music collective named after the fictional movement in Bolaño’s The Savage Detectives, which performed at the International Live Coding Conference in Shanghai (2024). Zona’s collaborative history includes work with Elliott Sharp, Weasel Walter, and Andy Borsz, among others. Across all projects, their practice is anchored in dissonance, rupture, and ritual—as both resistance and release.
