About the Workshop

The beginning of the year is a great time to prepare professional materials for upcoming applications and opportunities. A great place to start is drafting or updating your artist statement! Artist statements are hard to write, but they’re an integral tool for artists working in any discipline, and a required element of many applications. In this 1.5-hour workshop, Program Manager Anna Teiche will help you learn the basics of writing a strong artist statement and provide resources and tools to begin writing your own, or update and strengthen an existing draft!

Anna will cover common do’s and don’ts, as well as tips for streamlining your statement to be useable in a variety of settings and applications to save time and energy down the line. By the end of the workshop, you’ll have a better understanding of how to write about your work, and walk away with a working draft to use in your next application, website, or show.
