About this Workshop
Many artists want to use social media to share their work, connect with audiences, and support their creative careers, but struggle to build an effective, sustainable, and authentic presence online.
During this 1.5-hour workshop, writer and filmmaker Jill Louise Busby will walk you through strategies for developing a more intentional relationship with social media, grounded in your creative career goals rather than the demands of the algorithm. Together, you’ll identify the barriers shaping your current social media habits, clarify what success actually looks like for your practice, and develop strategies that fit your time, values, and artistic voice. You’ll leave with practical tools for approaching social media with greater clarity and purpose, along with a framework for building an online presence that supports your work without overwhelming it.
About the Instructor:

Jill Louise Busby is a writer, filmmaker, and facilitator whose work examines public identity: the people we are, the personas we perform, and the personal cost of maintaining the distance between them. She is the author of Unfollow Me: Essays on Complicity (Bloomsbury), winner of the 2021 Pacific Northwest Book Award, and the creator of the comedic web series Moms as Managers. Jill is a National Leaders of Color Fellow, an alumna of the Rhode Island Writers Colony, and was a finalist for the 2025 Artist Trust Arts Innovator Award. She is the founder of Public Facing, a social strategy and training practice. She currently serves as Executive Director of Northwest Film Forum.
