The Woven Tale Press hosts our annual art competition, with this year’s category being painting (can include mixed-media). Winners are awarded cash prizes, and the first place award: the Elizabeth Sloan Tyler Award, a one-week stay in our expanded 1909 charming retreat house in the legendary Hamptons, NY.

Originally owned by artist Elizabeth Sloan Tyler, for whom this award is named and whose ambient paintings hang throughout, is walking distance to NYC train, the ocean beach, and to the beautiful town of Amagansett (one bike is also supplied for gorgeous excursions over to the bay and salt water inlets!). Enjoy lazy mornings and peaceful evenings lounging and dining on the deck, or cozying up to the fireplace, cooking meals in the full kitchen, and exploring the studio and writing nooks.

This year’s judge is Emilia Dubicki, who has been awarded artist residencies from the I-Park Foundation, the Vermont Studio Center; and the Wurlitzer Foundation. In 2018, a solo exhibition of her work was held at Fred Giampietro Gallery, CT, where she is represented, and in the winter of 2019 she is showing in the invitational exhibition at City Gallery, New Haven, CT. Her work has been exhibited extensively, both nationally and internationally, and her paintings are in numerous private, public and corporate collections, as well as featured in publications such as The New York Times, Artfuse, NY Arts Magazine, the 1st dibs Introspective Magazine, Connecticut Cottages & Garden, among others.
