Artists will join for a 5 or 6 week season to co-create our weekly gatherings (Sundays, 10-11:30am). Each season will have a theme that teachers and artists use to reflect and draw inspiration to curate gatherings.

Time commitment
5 or 6 Sunday gatherings, depending on the season, with one Sunday gathering being an extended experience around your craft (example: songwriting workshop or communal art piece)
initial planning session (2 hours) and weekly check-in with staff (30 min- 1 hr/week)
at the end of the series artists are invited to reflect on their residency within the community

Compensation
$1,000-$1,200 depending on length of residency (5 or 6 weeks). Additional funds available for materials or guest artists

Grounding principles
Artists do not need to ascribe to Christian beliefs to be welcomed into the residency. At Awake, art plays an essential role in spiritual and communal formation as it invites us into wonder, beauty, tension, imagination, and lament. Art also invites us to engage with our bodies and the other. We see life together as one of social artistry, with our faith mediated through a collective imagination and connection to one another, creation, and the Spirit. In this light, artists in residence shape who we are and who we are becoming.
