The Museum of Flight is seeking artists to engage with guests during an Arts Festival in September.

The Arts Festival is in celebration of our museum-wide exhibition Art+Flight which combines our unique and diverse art scene with the rich aerospace history that the Puget Sound region is known for. Art+Flight offers sculpture, painting, photography, installation, and new media, to realize our feelings, enhance our perceptions, and remind us of the awe and joy of flight through the materiality of art.

Event Description: Celebrate Art+Flight at a museum-wide, Arts Festival! Watch exciting dance performances, listen to live music, and express your own creativity with a series of art making activities and talks!

We are looking for:
• Performing Arts Groups – We have two stages allocated: 1) Side Gallery (indoors) adjacent to our glass Great Gallery and 2) Aviation Pavilion, set among our 19 large aircraft in our outdoor, open-air, covered pavilion (weather permitting)
o Dance
o Performance Art
o Live Music
o Theater
• Artists (of all Mediums):
o To Give Talks/Lectures
o Lead Workshops/Activities (All ages welcome)
o Live Art Making – We’ll provide a spot for you to create your art! (Please Note: There are limitations on what materials are allowed within the gallery spaces, see below.)

Fine Print:
The Museum has limited funds available to cover workshop, material and supply expenses, but is encouraging participation in the Arts Festival as in-kind or on a volunteer basis. For compensation/stipend questions, please reach out to ArtandFlight@museumofflight.org to discuss options.

Limitations:

The following materials and activities are not allowed in any of the Museum’s indoor spaces: candles/open flame, glitter, sand, dirt or sawdust, rice or birdseed, dyes or food coloring, spray adhesives, welding, live plants or animals.

Ventilation is limited, and fumes must be kept to a minimum.
Water is not easily accessible in the gallery.
