The “Arts Explosion” inaugural juried art festival will be held June 2-4, 2023 at the Performing Arts & Event Center (PAEC). It will feature the diversity that is Federal Way and will celebrate artistic development and community engagement. It will encompass the display, judging and selling of art in three categories: 1. Digital/photography; 2. 2-Dimensional art to include oils and tapestries; 3. 3-Dimensional art to include sculpture, jewelry, wearable and body art. A cash award will be given to artists by renown judges with “Best in show” awards decided by the public. The first display on June 2nd will be for sponsors, artists, judges and dignitaries with awards given that evening by the mayor and city council. The arts festival will be open to the public June 2nd-3rd for purchase of art, contact with the artists, judging of the “Best in Show”, food trucks, artwork for children and various musical interludes. Our diverse panel of judges will include Shawn Peterson Qwalsius of the Puyallup Indian Tribe, barry johnson, a professional artist from Federal Way, Gerardo Pena, a professional artists and graduate of the Federal Way Public School System, and Anda Eklsnitis, a professional artists from Latvia.
