Hudson Square BID is excited to announce our Call for Artists for a new large-scale mural in Hudson Square! Co-sponsored by Hudson Square BID and the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA), this call for artists invites artists, designers, and other creatives to propose a summer 2024 mural installation that celebrates NASA’s mission through a creative and engaging artwork. This artwork will be the first installation under NASA’s new art program – aimed to raise awareness and excitement around the agency’s mission– and should build on Hudson Square’s efforts to activate and beautify its public realm.
The selected proposal recipient will receive an all-inclusive award of $20,000 that must include all design fees, materials, labor, equipment, and overhead.
Successful proposals will articulate a clear artistic vision that connects with NASA’s mission and HSBID’s streetscape improvement goals, demonstrates a high standard of design quality and originality, responds actively to the local environment and streetscape, and is suitable for the public realm.
