Kirkland House at Harvard University invites artists from all backgrounds to share their unique interpretations of joy. Joy transcends boundaries, unites us in experience, and expresses the profound beauty of both everyday moments and singular encounters. We believe in the power of inclusivity and celebration, and art is uniquely able to bring people together, to ignite conversations, and to foster community. By showcasing the theme of joy, we hope to create a vibrant and uplifting space within Kirkland House, home to a diverse community of 400 undergraduates.
Submission Guidelines:
Artists can submit up to three pieces for consideration. Artworks can be of any medium, but they must be able to be mounted on a wall. Dimensions should not exceed 48” x 36”, with no minimum requirements. Both emerging and established artists are welcome to participate.

Digital portfolio of up to three submissions
Denote the cost of the artwork for each individual submission
Links or other supporting materials are accepted
Legal and Copyright Information:
By submitting your artwork for consideration, you agree that, upon selection, Kirkland House at Harvard University will purchase and have ownership of the selected artwork. The artist retains the right to be credited for their work. Kirkland House reserves the right to exhibit the selected artwork publicly. The artist acknowledges that Kirkland House will hold ownership rights to the selected artwork and may use images of the artwork for promotional purposes, including but not limited to publications, online platforms, and the organization’s website.
Selection:
The committee will work together to identify the artwork that best captures “Expressions of Joy.” If successful, artists will be notified, and payment for the artwork, along with subsequent shipment details, will be provided.

Publicity and Promotion:
Artists will be credited in all promotional materials related to the call for artwork in “Expressions of Joy”. The credit will include the artist’s name as provided in the submission, unless otherwise specified by the artist.
Kirkland House may request artists to participate in interviews or social media features related to the call. Such participation is optional, and artists will be contacted in advance to discuss their availability and preferences.
Kirkland house will proudly display the work within the House and the Artist will be credited for their work upon display.
Payment and Shipment:
Upon selection, Kirkland house will administer payment for the artwork based on the proposed value in the submission. For shipment, Kirkland House will cover the costs associated with shipping the selected artworks. Artists are responsible for ensuring that their artworks are securely packaged to prevent damage during transit.
If the selected artist is located outside the local area, details regarding shipping arrangements, including pickup or delivery instructions, will be communicated upon selection. All shipping costs will be covered by Kirkland House.
