Amber Hongsermeier/Dancers will premiere a new full-length dance production “Liminal” from December 4th-6th, 2026, at Stage Left Theater in Spokane, WA. “Liminal” is an interdisciplinary ritual that explores vulnerability through the changeling folktale from a neurodivergent perspective.

To support the local dance community, we are specifically seeking a local Inland Northwest choreographer who wishes to showcase their work within the themes of our production.

Main Themes:

– Liminality – The changeling folktale – Neurodivergence

Additional Themes:

– Masking/Code Switching – Social anxiety – Limerence – Stimming – Suspicion – Social rituals – Neurotypical/neuronormative etiquette – Nervous system dysregulation – Joy in authenticity – Sensory differences – Communication differences – Group ostracization – Mental health – Rejection sensitivity – Mutism – Echolalia (vocal stimming), etc.

We welcome all styles of movement-based performance, but your work must connect to the themes of our show. The maximum duration for submissions is 10 minutes. When submitting your performance link, please ensure it does not require a password and showcases the full extent of the performance. Rehearsal or performance footage accepted. All performers must be 18 years or older, and applicants need to commit to the following show dates: December 4th at 7 PM, December 5th at 7 PM, and December 6th at 2 PM, 2026.

In exchange for your participation, we offer technical support for the performance, complimentary documentation through photos and videos, and promotion in our marketing materials.

We highly encourage individuals from marginalized communities (BIPOC, LGBTQ+, disabled folks) to apply, as we aim to highlight those who have historically faced barriers in showcasing their work.

We look forward to your applications!

Applications will close August 31st, 2026, and announcements will be made on September 15th, 2026.

Note about Venue: Stage Left Theater is a black box theater with a stage that is roughly 25 ft x 19 ft. There is a 8 ft x 4.5 ft elevated surface in the upstage left section of the stage. The floor will not have Marley, so wearing dance shoes or socks may be preferred rather to going barefoot.
