Collage Art for a Zine / Calls & Submissions

Deadline
July 10, 2022

Organization Name: Guardians of the Jungle

Organization Location: Mercer Island, WA

Type: Calls & Submissions

Fee: $15+

Discipline:

Sharp Hands Gallery and the Arizona Collage Collective are creating a call for collages to be curated into a collage zine to support local teaching artist Maja Sereda’s Guardians of the Jungle project.

Create a collage to raise awareness of her cause, exploring the sense of interconnectedness within the jungle and how it extends beyond its borders. Maja’s project focuses on the threatened habitat in the vitally important Madre de Dios region of the Peruvian Amazon. It is a complex ecosystem, home to indigenous tribes, with the highest biodiversity per capita in the world, but remains largely unresearched and not nationally protected. Loggers, poachers, and goldminers who use mercury are a threat to this home of countless heartbeats, but like the animals, they too are looking for ways to survive.

Go to @guardiansofthejungle page on instagram for inspiration and information.

Open to international artists.

Artists selected for inclusion in the zine will receive a free copy but will need to cover shipping.
