OVERVIEW: Research, initiate, develop and facilitate collaborative partnerships with individual contributors, foundations, philanthropic entities and other relationships that engage support for, as well as increase engagement in Northwest Folklife’s Programs and Events. Additionally, this role would develop and implement onsite fundraising strategies for our year-round events, including the Annual
Northwest Folklife Festival, various programs under the Our Big Neighborhood initiative, and relating to our yearly Cultural Focus. Building relationships and community investment should promote the mission of NWFL and cultivate investments centered on equity, community engagement and artistic excellence.

REPORTS TO: Managing Director & Executive Artistic Director

FLSA STATUS: Full-time (40 Hours)*, Non-Exempt, Benefits

SALARY: Range is dependent on experience and qualifications – minimum $18/hour
*As Northwest Folklife produces multiple programs and events, work schedule flexibility is necessary. Candidates for this position must have the ability to work some evening and weekends, particularly around the Annual Festival in May. Scheduling will be negotiated with your supervisors.

COMMUNITY RELATIONS RESPONSIBILITIES

Working with the Managing Director, Executive Artistic Director and other relevant staff:
• Develop, implement and report progress on community relationship building strategies. This includes establishing revenue and engagement goals to adequately support the operation of
NWFL programs and events, including the Annual Northwest Folklife Festival in May and the year-round Our Big Neighborhood initiative activities.
• Research and develop database and profiles for new prospects, as well as lapsed corporate individual contributors.
• In collaboration with Executive Staff and the Development Coordinator, prepare presentations, proposals and grants, as well as tailor collateral for potential contributors and community
partners.
• Contact, engage, lead and/or coordinate conversations and document communications with potential contributors and community partners. Follow-up appropriately with leads and report
on progress towards quarterly or program income goals.
• Coordinate with the Development Coordinator and Accounting Team to update information in the Development CRM, Kindful, as well as run reports to track progress on various parameters.

FUNDRAISING RESPONSIBILITIES

Working with the Managing Director, Executive Artistic Director and other relevant staff:
• In collaboration with the Development Coordinator and Executive Staff, develop the annual fundraising plan
• Develop, implement and report progress on event-based relationship building and fundraising strategies in support of annual plan. This includes establishing engagement and community
visibility goals which amplifies organizational vision, mission and values, and determining systems to track success of various tactics.
• Implement strategies and tactics to enhance Northwest Folklife’s visibility and viability as a community resource.
• Coordinate grant research, submissions timeline and proposal writing amongst leadership and staff. Lead follow-up in reporting requirements and ensure timely completion of grant fulfillment.
• Working closely with the Development Coordinator, manage the annual fund program, including campaign mailings and annual fundraising drives.
• Collaborate with the Volunteer Coordinator and Development Coordinator to develop inclusive practices around recruiting event-based staff and volunteers who will assist in onsite
fundraising at events. This program should also strive to attract staffing who can cater to the multiple languages spoken by our communities.
• Recruit, train, hire and supervise event based-staff towards exceptional patron engagement.
• Communicate employment terms with Accounting Team to complete hiring paperwork. Track fulfillment of hours and duties for brief evaluations and ensuring timely payroll of event-based
staff.
• Oversee general and onsite community relations relating to fundraising/development at NWFL programs and events. Ensure that appropriate leadership and staff are aware of potential
opportunities or challenges with contributor interactions.

RELATED RESPONSIBILITIES

Working with the Managing Director, Executive Artistic Director and other relevant staff:
• Represent and promote Northwest Folklife to a variety of constituents and stakeholders including: Corporate and philanthropic entities; community organizations and partners; individual
contributors and volunteers; the NWFL Board of Directors, and; the general public.
• Collaborate with leadership and staff to advance the organizational mission through community relations, increased engagement and fund development.
• Attend regular staff and team meetings.
• Occasionally attend board committee meetings to report on related activities.

QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS

• A passion for: Arts and culture, promoting cultural exchange, and community building.
• Initiative, a positive attitude and demonstrated collaboration skills.
• Demonstrated ability to prospect, profile, cultivate and manage new partnerships and relationships.
• Demonstrated success in developing, engaging and managing relationship-building strategies.
• Demonstrated experience with grant research and writing.

Understanding of budgeting and financial reporting.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills.
• Ability to prioritize, meet deadlines and work under pressure efficiently, with grace.
• Excellent problem solving skills with strategic and project management capabilities.
• Fluency in MS Office applications, G-suite applications, task management software and database programs.
• Event experience a must, large scale event experience a plus.
• Experience in Adobe Creative Cloud media products a plus.
• Oral and/or written fluency in multiple languages a plus.
