PROJECT OVERVIEW
The City of Everett is seeking an artist or artist team to design, fabricate and install permanent exterior
artwork at the Everett Public Library Evergreen Branch located at 9512 Evergreen Way, Everett, WA
98204.

PROJECT BUDGET
The City has established a budget of $25,000 for all phases of the artwork. The artwork budget shall
include, but is not limited to, all expenses related to the planning, design, fabrication, engineering and
installation of the artwork and incidentals such as food, lodging, per diem, travel, etc.

PROJECT GOALS AND OBJECTIVES

COVID-19 theme:
The intent of the piece is to commemorate, archive, document and reflect our community’s
experience with the COVID-19 pandemic. The art will be an enduring reminder of how our
community got through one of the most extreme emergency events of our time. The art should
evoke feelings of hope and healing; it should not come off as funerary.

Community participation:
The City wishes for its community members to contribute and/or participate in the creation of
the art to give the community an outlet to collectively register their experience with COVID-19.
This could mean incorporating their words, photos, drawings, thoughts and/or have an active
hand in the creation of the art. The Everett Public Library and Cultural Arts Commission are
available to assist in organizing community participation.

Accessible for people of all abilities:
Final art should be accessible for people of all abilities. How this achievement is met is up to the
artist; tactile art, interactive art or audible components are some examples. Three-dimensional
sculptures and 2 ½-dimensional relief murals are eligible. Two-dimensional painted murals are
ineligible.

Outdoor placement:
Material should be durable and withstand permanent placement in the outdoor elements.
