JOIN REDMOND!
A Fulfilling Career Awaits You!

If you love and appreciate the arts in all forms – visual, theater, literary, dance and more – or are an artist yourself and have an ability to get things done, you will be very excited to learn we might be looking for you to be our new Cultural Arts Coordinator.

Known as a national center for technological invention, Redmond embraces the idea that innovation in the arts and creative expressions will nurture and sustain community. As the Cultural Arts Coordinator, you will collaborate with the Cultural Arts and Events teams to support Redmond in creating a vibrant city where cultural diversity is celebrated.

Public art is integrated with urban design in the public realm to enrich Redmond’s character and identity, and to influence the design quality of public and private projects. Our public art programs are designed to build a strong community, strengthen cultural and economic vitality, contribute to the quality of life of residents, and attract and retain workers and businesses in Redmond.

So, if you are passionate about the role public art and artists have in our vital and diverse community and want to leverage that passion with your experience in project management, event coordination, arts programming, entertainment, design, community outreach, or event planning, we’d love to see you apply!

ROLE & RESPONSIBILITIES
About You:

This position is for a Do-er! You are the person who can take the dreams and ideas from others and put them into real actions and events. You are the kind of person that people come to because you know how to get things done.

You are very well organized and love to keep track of all the details and important relationships from, for example, contracts with our artists, grants for local artists and art organizations, and maintenance agreements with vendors.

While you are very skilled at making things happen, you also exercise great patience and understanding without becoming frustrated when the process demands it. That’s why if you have municipal government experience, you already know that we work in service to the community and many procedures and approvals are there for good reasons.

You have natural marketing skills, and can curate content for social media. A bonus might be that you have amateur or professional photography experience and can help beautifully capture the work of our artists and share it with everyone.

About the Job:
If selected to join us, this position will give you a chance to be integral in some of these essential functions:

– Research, plan, and implement community-wide cultural, visual, performance and literary arts programs, special events, art dedications/openings, artist training workshops and community projects, including acting as logistical point person for events and programs.
– Managing artist calls, selection processes, contracts for public artists, Poet Laureate, Artist-in-Residence, and other City Contracted Artists.
– Coordinate the City’s permanent and rotating public art collection, including inventory management, maintenance contracts and scheduling, making recommendations for purchases or loans, and gallery installations.
– Research and writing grant applications and managing grant contracts

QUALIFICATIONS
Education and Experience:

– An Associate’s degree and two (2) years related work experience in event production, arts programming, or experience working with artists or arts organizations.
– Equivalent combination of education, experience and training that provides the required knowledge, skills and abilities will be considered.
– Bachelor’s degree and experience working in arts administration and project management is preferred but not required.

Licenses and Requirements:
– Must have a valid Washington State driver’s license by date of hire and a driving record that meets City standards.
– Current First Aid and CPR certifications required within 6 months of hire. May be required to drive City vehicles including 14-passenger vans.
– Fulfillment of bargaining unit membership is required within 30 days of hire.
– To learn more about this position and additional knowledge, skills, abilities, physical demands, and responsibilities, please review the full job description for Program Coordinator.

Selection Process:

Video Screening Calls will be held on July 25.
