Project Description
The Lynnwood Public Facilities District doing business as The District owns the Lynnwood Event Center (LEC) and approximately 13.01 acres of land and buildings surrounding the LEC at the Northwest corner of 196th Street and 36th Avenue West in Lynnwood, Washington. The LEC square footage totals approximately 63,975 SF on two levels.
The District is committed to the promotion of local and regional art and artists by showcasing artwork at the LEC. For the past eight years The District has sponsored two art shows annually where visitors can enter the building for self-guided tours of the artwork, under the guidance of an Art Committee working with an art curator. Artwork has been available for sale. In addition, we have hosted an artist reception for each show allowing the public to meet and greet the artists with food, drink and entertainment provided.
We are requesting proposals to fulfill an art curator position to assist with our current programming for art in the Lynnwood Events Center, as well as advise on future art projects on the entire property. The curator will work with an installer to hang or display art pieces at the Lynnwood Events Center.
Scope of Services
• Assist in defining goals for the art program
• Advise the art committee as appropriate and attend art committee meetings
• Assist in selecting art show theme
• Develop and expand a contact database for the program including artists, arts
organizations and vendors
• Communicate consistently with The District and LEC staff
• Determine art show themes
• Create schedules for each show including recruitment, installation, reception and
take down
• Organize and execute the Call for Art within designated themes and The District
evaluation guidelines
• Develop contracts with all artists
• Coordinate and communicate artist biographical information
• Facilitate sales of artwork
• Assist in marketing the art program and receptions
• Communicate and work closely with art installer for hanging and take down
• Attend all artist receptions
• Track and document hours spent on the art project
• Advise on future programming for the entire property including themes,
programming and purchases for permanent art display
