The Des Moines Arts Commission is looking for an artist to create imagery for the new fencing that surrounds the location of SR3 Sealife Response, Rehabilitation, and Research located on the Des Moines Marina Floor.

Opportunity:
SR3 is a marine wildlife hospital that will provide response and rehabilitation for sick or injured marine animals. This will be the first facility of its kind in the Pacific Northwest, putting Des Moines on the front lines of rescuing and protecting our incredible marine wildlife!

We are looking for an experienced artist to provide 2D artwork for up to 400 feet of [Size of fence] mesh fence wrap that will be a visual barrier for the facility. The desired artwork will be expected to feature some or all of the animals that the organization works with including seals, sea lions, sea turtles, sea otters, dolphins, harbor porpoise, killer whales, and humpback whales.

Artwork should speak to a large demographic of ages and include interactive segments for marine mammal education and room for informational placards.

Design work image will be printed to a mesh fencing and will be converted to a digital format. The file must be able to transfer to high-resolution format with a minimum of 300dpi at 1/12th scale. File Formats and Size below.

Budget:
$5,000 including design review and execution.

Artist Experience:
Artist must demonstrate curiosity and sensitivity to the existing residents, the history of the site, the neighborhood and community of the Des Moines Marina District, as well as to consider the feedback of the selection committee. The jury will be comprised of representatives of the Des Moines Arts Commission, SR3’s Executive Director, and local community members.
