Who We Are

Music of Remembrance (MOR), a Seattle-based arts organization, was established in 1998 to remember the Holocaust and honor its lessons with concert performances, recordings and educational programs. In addition to discovering and performing music from that period, MOR is admired around the world for its leadership in commissioning and premiering new works by leading composers that address human rights issues today. Our recent programs have introduced works speaking out on family border separations, the struggles of child boat refugees, the threats of nuclear war, and the consequences of religious intolerance. Earlier commissions include a major work on the wartime incarceration of Japanese Americans, and the first musical work on the Nazi persecution of gay people. Our core performing ensemble is drawn from the ranks of the Seattle Symphony, joined by world-leading guest artists. For more information, please view our website, linked below.

The Position

Despite the broad scope of our work, we are a small organization with only three full-time staff members: an Artistic Director, a Director of Development, and the new position of an Executive Assistant who will replace a departing office administrator.

Reporting to the Artistic Director, the Executive Assistant will provide the administrative and project support needed for efficient and reliable functioning of MOR’s office operations. The position requires strong written and spoken communication skills for representing the organization in a professional manner in person, on the phone and in written correspondence. Duties will include organizing and maintaining the organization’s office operations; providing primary telephone coverage; preparing correspondence, newsletters and reports; organizing materials for meetings and concerts; updating content information on the MOR website; handing internal and external information requests; staffing concerts; liaising with external vendors and service providers; processing invoices.

The Requirements

The position requires a proactive and self-motivated individual, with strong attention to detail and an ability to meet aggressive deadlines while balancing multiple priorities. The individual must be able to thrive while working independently with general oversight but minimal face-to-face supervision. Proficiency with the Microsoft Office software suite is essential, and familiarity with social media platforms is highly desirable. The individual will be expected to learn the Donor Perfect database tool used by MOR to manage its contributor and contact information.

The Opportunity

The position offers the opportunity to play a key role in the operations of a unique music organization that is widely admired for its artistic quality and its commitment to meaningful causes. Joining MOR as it prepares to enter its milestone 25th anniversary season, the Executive Assistant will have a part in launching bold new projects with major composers and world-class performers. Our office in North Seattle’s Magnuson Park is a pleasant and comfortable setting. Benefits include individual medical and dental insurance, and fifteen days per year of personal time off in addition to national holidays.

Starting salary: $58,000-$70,000 depending on experience and qualifications.

Applications will be reviewed at the end of June, 2022.
