The Executive Director (ED) is the key management leader of the Port Angeles Fine Arts Center (PAFAC) and is responsible for the organization’s consistent achievement of its mission and financial objectives, as well as overseeing the administration, programs and strategic plan of the organization. Other key duties include fundraising, grant writing, marketing and community outreach. The ED reports directly to the Board of Directors (BOD).

GENERAL RESPONSIBLITIES

BOARD ENGAGEMENT: Works with the board to fulfill the organization’s mission
Responsible for leading PAFAC in a manner that supports and guides the organization’s mission in making consistent and timely progress
Responsible for communicating effectively with the BOD and providing, in a timely and accurate manner, information necessary for the BOD to function properly and to make informed decisions

FINANCIAL PERFORMANCE AND VIABILITY: Develops resources sufficient aimed at ensuring the financial health of the organization
Responsible for the fiscal integrity of PAFAC, to include submission to the BOD a proposed annual budget and monthly financial statements, which accurately reflect the financial condition of the organization
Responsible for the fiscal management that generally anticipates operating within the approved budget and ensures maximum resource utilization
Responsible for fundraising and grant writing to insure the continued growth of the organization. Also responsible for sustaining and growing other resources necessary to support PAFAC’s mission.

ORGANIZATION MISSION AND STRATEGY: Works with BOD, staff, and volunteers to ensure that the mission is fulfilled through programs, strategic planning, sound financial management and community outreach
Assists with strategic planning to ensure that PAFAC can successfully fulfill its mission into the future
Identifies and recommends new strategic initiatives based on PAFAC needs
Responsible for the oversight and implementation of programs that carry out PAFAC’s mission:
Provide direction and oversight of all program, volunteer and event committees
Liaise as needed with Program Committee Chairs to ensure program success and to ensure alignment of committee goals with overall organizational goals
Develops, offers and promotes access to education programs/workshops based on analysis of current and future needs
Responsible for the enhancement of PAFAC’s image by being active and visible in the community and by working closely with other professional, civil and private organizations in the region
Publicizes the activities of the organization, its programs and goals

ORGANIZATION OPERATIONS: Oversees and implements appropriate resources to ensure that the operations of the organization are appropriate
Responsible for the effective administration of PAFAC’s operations
Responsible for the hiring and retention of competent staff based on PAFAC’s needs
Responsible for volunteer management
Maintains an organizational culture that builds strong partnerships between staff and volunteers as well as encouraging staff/volunteer development
Responsible for signing all notes, agreements, and other instruments made and entered into and on behalf of PAFAC
Maintains official records and documents, and ensures compliance with federal, state and local regulations
Maintains a working knowledge of significant developments and trends in the field

SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES
Plans and operates the annual budget
Fundraising and grant writing
Ensures that job descriptions are developed, that regular evaluations are held, and that sound HR practices are in place
Serves as PAFAC’s primary spokesperson to the organization’s constituents, the media and the general public
Reports to and work with the BOD to seek involvement in policy decisions, fundraising and to increase the overall visibility of PAFAC
Supervises and collaborates with staff and volunteers
Implements the Strategic Plan
Oversees marketing and other communication efforts
Reviews and approves all expenditures

The Port Angeles Fine Arts Center is housed in an historical, mid-twentieth century home of Esther Webster. It overlooks the scenic Strait of Juan de Fuca, the south side of Vancouver Island in British Columbia and the San Juan Islands. Nestled in a five-acre woods and Art Park it lies at the foot of National Forest and the Olympic National Park.

The position pays in the $50,000s depending on experience, and includes vacation and health benefits.
