Gabriela Denise Frank and Sharon Mentyka, Seattle writers and past Civita Institute Fellows, are co-leading a generative writing workshop this summer in Civita di Bagnoregio (a short train ride from Rome) from June 20 to 27, 2020.
This workshop offers a meaningful pause, time for creativity and exploration, and the immersive experience of connecting with other writers. Writing in a village as ancient as Civita provides an opportunity to observe and explore the elements that make a specific place unique: layers of history, nature, mythology, human culture, and the built environment across time.
This intimate workshop of 8 to 10 writers will weave observation and readings, journey and reflection. Daily walking “pilgrimages” and a day-trip to the nearby hill town of Orvieto will add context and richness to the work. The workshop is open to writers of fiction and nonfiction, prose and poetry. This experience is ideal for experienced writers looking to enliven and deepen their practice.
