Artist in Residence Program at Deception Pass State Park

For hundreds of years creatives of all kinds have chosen to immerse themselves in the natural environment to inspire their work. Today, across the country, Artist in Residence (AIR) programs in parks create opportunities for artists to live and create while surrounded the by the natural beauty and cultural significance of the resource.

Deception Pass State Park’s awe-inspiring beauty has caught the attention of many over the years. With its rocky cliffs, sweeping ocean views, dense old growth forests, and rich cultural history, Deception Pass State Park engages the eye and challenges the mind. In honor of the park’s centennial year, we are excited to launch a four-week summer Artist in Residence program which offers, a selected artist, the opportunity to live and create while surrounded by the natural beauty and cultural significance of Washington’s most visited State Park.

The AIR program is open to a wide range of artistic mediums and offered in partnership with the Deception Pass Park Foundation and Washington State Parks and Recreation Commission’s (WSPRC) Folk & Traditional Arts Program.
