POSITION OVERVIEW:
The Marketing Content & Campaign Lead will support Oxbow’s Marketing & Public Engagement teams through core content and marketing functions for organization-wide initiatives and public events, along with individual content needs for the Education, Farm, Native Plant Nursery, Conservation, and Member programs. Working with a graphic designer and at the direction of the Marketing & Public Engagement Manager, the Marketing Content & Campaign Lead will bring Oxbow’s work to life in words, photographs, and videos, while also developing and implementing marketing campaigns across all programs at Oxbow.

The Marketing Content & Campaign Lead will be a strong writer, editor, and storyteller, bringing a background in communications or journalism, who also shoots amazing photos and video. They will be passionate and knowledgeable about Oxbow’s field of work and able to distill complex concepts with multiple stakeholders into easy-to-understand and engaging content. This position will own all aspects of content creation from concept through production and posting to WordPress, YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, and so on, as well as managing Oxbow’s social media channels.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
In collaboration with the Marketing & Public Engagement Manager, the Marketing Content & Campaign Lead is responsible for the following key functions:

Marketing Campaign & Strategy – 30%
Supports In the creation of the Marketing Campaign for each program or project in conjunction with the Marketing & Public Engagement Manager
Develop and manage all paid social advertising campaigns on Oxbow’s owned channels
Manages paid search / SEO campaigns
Oversees the marketing/sharing of Oxbow’s owned content (blog posts, etc) and partnership posts

Content Creation – 35%
Develop Oxbow’s content strategy across owned channels
Build an annual content calendar created with the Marketing and Public Engagement teams to market events, programs, partnerships, etc.
Responsible for content Ideation, development, production and deployment across all owned channels (website, blog, newsletter, etc)
Work with various Oxbow stakeholders to identify and tell brand- and program-specific stories

Copywriting
Develop content and write copy for social media, advertising, emails, oxbow.org, event and program marketing, advertising campaigns, etc., working with a proofreader to ensure all final products are in accordance with AP and Oxbow style
Work with program staff to solicit and develop content and expertise for social media, email, and web; responsible for providing correct, timely, and useful information to the public on topics related to Oxbow’s work
Write and create content for social media on a daily basis, email and web content on a weekly basis

Photography and videography
Supports In creation of photo & videography strategy across all program projects
Schedules photographers and videographers for Oxbow programs and events to capture images for social media posts, marketing campaigns, learning resources housed on oxbow.org, Oxbow’s YouTube channel, email newsletters, etc.
Attend events, programs, tours, weekend open hours, etc. to capture photo and video content
Storyboard, plan, manage budgets for, and execute planned photo and video shoots
Work with a graphic designer to edit and produce video content
Find, brief, manage, and provide shot lists for outside photographers/videographers to shoot large events and specialized content (e.g. Family Dinner, Oxtober, drone footage)
Manage and edit digital assets used in various marketing channels
Responsible for uploading content into the photo library and collecting appropriate photography releases, as needed

Social Media Management – 20%
Build social media schedule across all channels
Develop social media strategy (frequency of posts, types of posts, etc) based on brand voice guidelines
Manage social posting, comments, and messages daily
Ensure all social media properties and communications are on-brand and up to date
Coordinate with program staff to ensure Oxbow expertise is represented in conversations with the public via social channels
Work with partners to create, share, and integrate content related to partnerships
Monitor analytics and prepares reports on social media, web, and other content engagement
Pitch ideas and implement optimizations based on social media response and data

Project Management, Strategy, and Coordination – 15%
Manage schedules and timelines to ensure annual content calendar creative is fulfilled
Create and maintain content production timelines for multiple program areas
Stay up to date on marketing trends and make recommendations for new content partners, tools, and techniques
Help support day-to-day marketing and communications functions regular email marketing efforts, website updates; Generates reports and materials on an as needed basis
Assist with occasional weekend/after-hours special events and fundraising initiatives as needed
Manage and direct the work of the Creative Designer & Coordinator positions on the Marketing Team

General
Ensure that all communications and marketing objectives, strategies, and messages are aligned with and supportive of Oxbow’s mission, brand, and strategic plan
Work cross-functionally with program teams to ensure efficient and effective communication and operations
Perform other duties as needed and assigned by the Marketing & Public Engagement Manager

QUALIFICATIONS:
Degree or 3 years equivalent professional experience in the fields of communications, marketing, journalism, photography, videography, design, or similar
Experience in a similar role, running or creating content for a social media account, preferably for a nonprofit, farm, nursery, or similar
A passion for/prior experience in native plants, sustainable agriculture, ecology, conservation, habitat restoration, environmental education, the food system, or related field
Excellent copywriting, editing, and proofing skills. Experience in journalism or copywriting a plus
Experience shooting nature, wildlife, people, or food photography or for marketing or advertising a plus
Established content portfolio including photography and/or videography, demonstrated work with short-form video for social media a plus
Proficiency in the Adobe After Effects, Premiere, iMovie, or similar, Facebook, Instagram, Adobe Creative Suite, WordPress, and MailChimp, Flodesk, or similar

Ability to distill complex ideas into accessible written and visual products
Enjoys being around and conversing with people, comfortable in large groups, and with writing about and photographing people of diverse backgrounds and age groups, including small children
An eye for design and visual storytelling
Comfortable using Microsoft Teams, Office: Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook
Able to work both collaboratively and independently
Comfortable receiving constructive feedback
Ability to manage multiple simultaneous deadlines
Detail-oriented, with experience using organizational tools to stay on-task
Comfortable walking several miles per day over rough terrain and/or dense brush
Ability to work in an open office environment

This role is based in Carnation, WA. Frequent travel to the farm as well as to area partner sites will be necessary, including on weekends and some holidays.

COMPENSATION
This is a temporary, full-time position with a 5 month term. Salary is $25-27/hr depending on experience. This position may have the potential to be year round.
