February 22, 2021
Organization Name: Edmonds Arts Commission
Organization Location: Edmonds WA
Type: Calls & Submissions
The City of Edmonds Arts Commission offers an opportunity for regional artists to create temporary outdoor art installations on three City owned fences. The Arts Commission is interested in encouraging a visual conversation through temporary artworks.
ELIGIBILITY: Artists based in the Puget Sound Region (Olympia to Bellingham and west to the Kitsap Peninsula).
PROJECT DESCRIPTION: The project should create an installation that has interest for both pedestrians and passing vehicles. Artworks might reference, but are not restricted to themes of Puget Sound climate, community, natural environment, sustainability, discovery, and history. The installation should be appropriate for diverse audiences and for public display.
The artist is responsible for creating the work and attaching it to the fence by approved methods for a period of three to four months. Materials must be appropriate for all weather conditions and must not degrade or pollute during the exhibit period. The usable portion of the fence measures 5’ x 20 – 80’ depending on the site. The City will prepare signage for the fence to identify the artist(s). The artist(s) are required to provide text for a statement about their installation.
