Gallery Exhibition Open Call

Well Well Projects is excited to announce our annual Open Call for Group Exhibition Proposals! We are currently accepting proposals for 2-5 person group exhibitions. The exhibition for the accepted proposal will run January 6-28 with an opening reception on Saturday, January 6th. Groups of individual artists, collectives, and curators are all welcome to submit proposals and are encouraged to apply. All mediums considered.

Well Well Projects is accepting proposals for a 2-5 person group exhibition. We’re looking for well-organized proposals that include high-quality documentation of the artwork, and show a strong thematic and conceptual framework.

There is an application fee of $25. We aim to keep application fees affordable to not place an unreasonable financial burden on working artists in our community. All fees support our artist-run space!

Selected guests are expected to arrange for their installation and de-installation, and gallery sit for the opening and closing weekends. Upon acceptance, the works must be ready and available to exhibit in January 2024. Works do not necessarily need to be framed, but the presentation of the work should be appropriate for its form and able to withstand the month-long display. The exhibition will run for the 4-week duration of January.

Well Well Projects directors will select the exhibition. The selected proposal will be supported with a Saturday reception, show title vinyl for the outside door, professional photo documentation, a dedicated exhibition page on our website, promotion on our social media, the option of hosting a gallery talk (virtual or in-person), and gallery install supplies.

Please note, that applications must include at least one participating artist who currently lives within a 180-mile radius from Portland. Artists are required to install and deinstall their exhibitions in addition to gallery sitting from 12-5 p.m. on Jan. 7, 27, and 28

The accepted proposal will receive a $150 stipend!

ABOUT WELL WELL PROJECTS
Well Well Projects is a contemporary artist-collective gallery in Portland, Oregon established in January 2021. In total, we are 14 member artists from the greater Portland region.

Well Well opened its doors with the intent of giving artists gallery representation and enriching their home base in the Oregon Center for Contemporary Art. We aim for this project to serve as a launchpad for artists while open calls and other opportunities seek to reach a wider audience that expands outside the Pacific Northwest region.

An inclusive culture of respect that honors the rights, safety, dignity, and worth of every individual is essential to the success of our gallery. We are committed to creating a space that is free of racism, transphobia, homophobia, ableism, misogyny, classism, and other bias.

Well Well Projects welcomes applications from BIPOC, LGBTQIA2S+ community members, people with disabilities, and others who are underrepresented within the arts.

We host opening receptions for new exhibitions on the first Saturday of each month.
Our open gallery hours are Saturday & Sunday 12 – 5 pm.

HOW TO APPLY

Submissions should include a Single PDF attachment containing the following:
• Contact Information (designate one artist to serve as the main point of contact)
• Proposed Exhibition Title
• Exhibition Description (limit 500 words): Provide a statement describing the concept of your proposed exhibition.
• Biography of artists (limit 150 words max per artist)
• Artist Resumes (limit 2 pages max per artist): Upload the resumes of all artists included in the exhibition.
• Up to 10 Work Samples: Images must be of the actual work to be included.
• Image Descriptions: Provide any contextual or technical information related to your work. Include the artist’s name, title, year, media, and dimensions for each image. For video/audio work, upload one still per artwork and provide a YouTube or Vimeo link in the details.
• Payment confirmation: All payments must be submitted by PayPal, sent to wellwellprojects@gmail.com, and must include the name of the main point of contact in the memo field.

Notification of works accepted/declined by December 10, 2023
Install is January 1-5, 2023
Exhibition January 6 – January 28, 2024

Deinstall is January 28 after 5pm to January 29 end of day

At least one participant must reside within 180 miles of Portland, OR.
All mediums and genres are encouraged to apply

Details About The Exhibition
• Well Well Projects can provide some a/v equipment upon request.
• Well Well Projects does not handle the sale of artwork. Individuals interested in purchasing work will be directed to contact the artists directly.
• Artists are responsible for delivering work to/from the gallery.
• Artists are responsible for installation/de-install.
• Artists must be present at the opening reception on Saturday, January 6 from 5-8 pm.
• At least one artist from the group must gallery sit the first Sunday and last weekend of the exhibition.

Gallery hours are Sat-Sun 12-5 pm.
