Open Call to Artists: Treespeak / Calls & Submissions

Deadline
March 6, 2020

Organization Name: Confluence Gallery

Organization Location: Twisp, WA

Type: Calls & Submissions

Discipline:

We cordially invite you to contribute to our upcoming exhibit Treespeak at Confluence Gallery in Twisp, WA. The show will open on June 6, 2020, and run through July 13, 2020.

SUMMARY:
Treespeak features trees as a representative of our connection to nature. We now know that trees do speak, communicating with each other through chemical signals, and fungal companions. They speak to us as well, and they are as necessary to our well being as air and water. We are seeking artwork that expresses this close connection, especially as it applies to the artist /creator. How are you connected to trees? What do they say to you? There are many possibilities that can be explored and many forms of art that could be represented… from massive structures to minuscule roots, beauty, color, forms….. landscapes, sculptures made from wood, bowls, metalwork…. baskets made from bark. Paper, of course, is from trees. We are looking for creative work inspired by your connection to and conversations with trees. You may submit up to 3 works.

RULES:
EACH PIECE MUST BE…
Your own original work.
Available for sale.
Created in the last 3 years.
Any size.
Never previously shown in the Methow Valley area.
Both 2-D and 3-D works accepted.

PLEASE NOTE:
The Exhibit Curators have the right to refuse work, even after work is delivered to the gallery, if it does not contribute to the direction, cohesiveness, or available space of the show, or does not follow the parameters set forth above. We are looking for high-quality execution and thoughtful content that contribute to the vision of the show as stated above.
