Pullman Regional Hospital is sponsoring a contest for artists who live or work in Eastern Washington and Northern Idaho and are 18 years and older. We seek local artists to help us capture the unique essence of health, healing and hope through artwork. We are requesting submission of one 2-dimentional artwork and one sculptural work to be displayed in the hospital’s front entry, as seen in the photo below. A cash prize of $1000 prize will be awarded for each piece that is chosen. New works and already created works will be considered. The selected works will be the property of Pullman Regional Hospital and will remain permanently displayed in the hospital.

Timeline
The call is open beginning on 09/01/2022 through 10/14/2022. Selected artwork will be announced on our website and the winning artists will be notified by the end of October 2022. The artworks will be displayed at Pullman Regional Hospital beginning January 2023.

Artwork Goals
Pullman Regional Hospital strives to create and commission artworks that foster a welcoming, uplifting environment for health and healing. We request the submitted artwork for this contest be an aesthetically pleasing focal point for patients, visitors, and staff alike. Artist must be mindful of the current brand guidelines by integrating the colors and textures of the area it will be displayed (see photo below instructions). We request the artwork reflect that this is a space of healing, hope, and comfort. The artist must consider the safety of the hospital’s visitors, patients, and staff when designing and artwork should be easy to clean and maintain.

Specifications for art
Wall art: minimum of 2’x3’ and maximum of 3’x4’ in size. Can be any medium (photography, painting, 3-D (as long as it does not stick out further than 3” from the wall).
Sculpture: Can be any material that can be wiped and cleaned daily (or that can be kept under a clear case). Needs to have a sturdy base so it will not tip if the table it sits on is bumped. No taller than 3 feet.
Selection Process
Digital JPG artwork files will be reviewed by the Pullman Regional Hospital Art Committee. Actual works will not be accepted for review. Any materials received will not be returned to the artist. Please submit JPG files no more than 2500 pixels in the wider dimension.

Artist Bio/Statement
Please submit your artist bio (1 paragraph) and 1-2 paragraph artist statement. Please include contact phone, email and mailing address.

Concept Statement
200 Word Maximum – If submitting a concept for a new work, please provide a sketch or mock-up of your idea. If submitting an existing artwork, please provide a description of how this piece meets the artwork goals provided.

Work Examples
Please submit 3-5 examples of your work. Send your samples as JPG files that are no more than 2500 pixels in the wider dimension.

Other Info
Artists are not allowed to apply in teams. Pullman Regional Hospital will cover any shipping charges incurred to deliver the final artwork.
Prize money will be sent by check to the address given on your application. Please make sure it is accurate, and contact us if you need to update that info after you apply.
By entering the contest, each contestant warrants that the submission is the contestant’s original work. Original artwork submitted becomes the property of Pullman Regional Hospital and contestants hereby consent to its use by Pullman Regional Hospital. Winners must assign all copyright, trademarks and other intellectual property rights related to their entries to Pullman Regional Hospital. In consideration of participating in the contest, contestants release, discharge, and agree to indemnify and hold harmless Pullman Regional Hospital from any claim arising from the use or display of the contestant’s submitted artwork.
