Portland State University invites artists/artist teams living in Oregon and Washington to submit qualifications to create a biographical remembrance for Jason Washington, who was killed by campus police officers in 2018. One artist/artist team will be selected to create a site-specific interior artwork to be located at the heart of the campus in Smith Memorial Student Union (SMSU). We seek artwork that will flank the open mezzanine facing the south park blocks, near a gathering/seating area. The artwork may encompass texture, video, digital, or other 3D elements if appropriate for the site and within budget. The budget available for the commission comes from the Office of the President in the amount of $35,000.
Submissions are due Monday, April 3rd, 2023.
