Seattle Art Fair Docents will be leading tours and engaging with attendees to facilitate enriched experiences with works of art throughout the Seattle Art Fair. Tours are 30-45 minutes long and will include anywhere from 10-25 people in each tour group. It is the Docent’s responsibility to maintain a warm and welcoming Fair environment and to encourage attendees’ inquiry and enjoyment of the art at the fair. Please note shifts range from 2 hours up to 8 hours, and require open availability from August 1-4, 2019.

Responsibilities:
– Welcome and check-in in guests as they arrive for tours
– Lead 30-45 minute tours of 10-25 people throughout the Seattle Art Fair
– Become familiar with works of art throughout the Fair and answer attendee questions
– Provide information and a deeper understanding of works of art throughout the Fair
– Arrive punctually for tours and maintain a calm and organized tour atmosphere
– Follow specific instruction about individual tour needs

Physical Requirements:
– Comfortable standing for long periods of time on concrete floors
– Frequent walking, including walking stairs
– Ability to lift 10 lbs.

Qualifications:
1. Background in studio art or art history
2. Must be able to speak articulately and clearly to groups of people
3. Must be comfortable speaking publically
4. Strong interpersonal skills and polite demeanor
5. Highly organized and ability to multi-task
6. Experience in prior customer service preferred
7. Demonstrate strong customer service skills
8. Must be able to stay calm in stressful, fast-paced situations
9. Time management, able to meet schedule expectation for allotted tour times
