Non-traditional contemporary art gallery seeks an enthusiastic and self-motivated gallery assistant. Regular duties will include participation in the design and installation of rotating art exhibits, customer service, office organization, and management of our artwork inventory.
We are also searching for a person with experience in designing online and printed matter. Previous experience working with the entire scope of print production, from design to pricing to working with printers, is greatly desired. We produce postcards, exhibition catalogs, advertisements and more on a regular basis, using Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.
Our gallery is a socially-responsible small business with a mission to provide a community arena for cross-cultural exchange and dialogue. Cultural sensitivity and interest in learning about the global human community is a must! We provide a fun work environment and an enthusiastic team of co-workers.
This is a part-time position with possibility for growth. We would like to find an individual seeking the possibility of long-term employment and becoming an integral part of our team. To begin, the position offers 3 days per week during gallery business hours (Tues – Sat 10 – 6). Occasional evening hours on First Thursdays and other gallery events.
Necessary Qualifications
Outgoing, welcoming attitude for gallery visitors and artists Knowledge of graphic design and print production
Art Gallery or Retail/Customer Service experience preferred
Ability to participate in exhibition installation, including lifting up to 50 lbs and climbing ladders
Deep interest in and respect for cultures around the world
Proficient user of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook)
Proficient user of Adobe Photoshop and Adobe InDesign
Great organizational skills and attention to detail
Desired Qualifications
Driver’s license and car (parking provided)
WordPress and website experience
Experience with Mailchimp
Project management experience: managing team members and project timelines
