Call for Artists: Corona Portrait Project
Can’t stop reading the news? Exhibitions been cancelled? Laid-off, hours cut back, not even sure what’s happening because everything is different today?
Be part of an online self-portrait exhibition. Read the guidelines and submission instructions carefully at coronaportrait.com, and then submit a high quality jpeg image. No entry fee.
The future is uncertain. Right now, the purpose of the Corona Portrait Project is to create and connect.
What is a portrait?
A portrait includes the face and seeks to display the likeness, personality, and mood of the subject. A portrait is generally not a snapshot, but a composed image. The subject is often looking directly at the painter or photographer in order to best engage the viewer.
~adapted from wiki “Portrait”
Use the above as a guideline. A self-portrait is created by the artist with themselves as the subject.
The impetus for this project is community building, highlighting artists impacted by the coronavirus pandemic, and reflecting on individual identity. It is assumed that most people may have limited access to equipment and other resources right now. Get creative, be thoughtful, and have fun.
By submitting an image you grant unlimited and irrevocable license for the project curator to display/reproduce/modify your image, declare that you are the sole creator and owner of the work, and acknowledge and agree that you will not be paid for this submission now or in the future. You otherwise retain copyright of the image and may display it elsewhere freely.
Source artwork may be 2d or 3d as long as it is appropriately represented in a high quality photograph. International applicants welcome. The project curator reserves sole discretion in acceptance of submissions. Submission guidelines maybe changed/adapted at any time by the curator, without notice. Inquiries and communication unrelated to self-portrait submissions may not be answered due to time constraints.
To submit a self-portrait for consideration include:
Full name of the artist, location (city/state/nation), Date of completion (Day/Month/Year).
Jpeg as email attachment: image of self-portrait, file named: lastname_firstname_SP, file size 300dpi and between 2mb-6mb.
Send in a single email to: self@coronaportrait.com
Submissions will be accepted on a rolling basis, don’t wait to submit.
