OVERVIEW: STYLE is looking to hire dedicated contracted artists who possess a passion for literacy, music, songwriting and youth empowerment to fulfill a Contracted Teaching Artist role. Teaching Artists will become familiar with STYLE’s mission and programming in order to facilitate songwriting workshops for elementary and middle school youth. Teaching Artists will be assigned to school sites, as needed, and asked to demonstrate their artistic practice while balancing the role of co-facilitating in a classroom setting. Ideal candidates will have a flexible work schedule allowing them to work between the hours of 7am – 5pm.

QUALIFICATIONS:
– Teaching Artist will possess the following qualifications:
– Excellent verbal and written communication skills
– Active musician or songwriting experience
– Some classroom management experience prefered
– Ability to work independently and as a team player
– Passion for youth voice and socially engaged art
– Ability to think creatively and strategically
– Willingness to learn STYLE’s current programs, philosophy and pedagogical practices
– Experience working with youth from various backgrounds, abilities and literacy levels preferred
– Knowledge of regional educational landscape strongly preferred
– Flexible work schedule between the hours of 7am – 5pm
– Ability to travel locally
