Cornish College of the Arts is looking for an experienced Technical Supervisor. This person will be responsible for technical management of all the Cornish venues, the scene shop and the costume shop.  This position collaborates with Department Heads, Production and administrative staff, to plan and manage the technical needs of external and internal usage of the Cornish Venues. It is a key position that provides support to departments and staff so student productions meet our high quality standards and run smoothly.

General Responsibilities
Tracks the schedule for rental clients and College/Cornish Playhouse in-house uses in conjunction with the Visual and Performing Arts Production Manager.
Establishes and enforces policy in all areas relating to technical production and safety.
Works alongside Visual and Performing Arts Production Manager to schedule events and labor.
Works with PM, College production Technical Directors, Chairs and Administrative Assistants. In:
Generating budget estimates and invoices pertaining to technical, production and labor costs.
Ensuring safe and timely construction/install of all (College) sets/programming within the Cornish venues.
Managing overall schedule in the Playhouse, overseeing overall schedules in other venues
Provides oversight of technical work-study students including: scheduling, finance, timecards, and management.
Manages House IATSE Staff and over-hire labor, including ensuring Cornish is compliant with IATSE contract.
Maintains the Safety Manual in conjunction with the CSES Director and Resource Manager.
Ensures training is up to date for staff.
Maintains accurate inventory records in conjunction with staff.
Runs and Attends CSES staff meetings in conjunction with CSES Director and Resource Manager.
Schedules and attends all production meetings for rental clients.
Prepares and monitors budgets for the Performing Arts side of the CSES Department with input from CSES Director.
Tracks and approves all shifts. Signs off on all timesheets.
Oversees live streaming equipment, setup, and strike throughout Cornish.
Coordinates with other support departments and Seattle Center in maintenance and repair of specialized equipment.
Oversees piano tunings in conjunction with PONCHO Manager.

Venue Responsibilities
Oversee Venue Managers and Stage Crew in all venues.
Oversees the maintenance and organization of production equipment, props & scenery in cooperation with costume and lighting/sound departments to ensure safe and clean working environments along with Staff.
Oversees staff in building and maintaining all technical stage equipment.
Manages and supervises all activities within the Playhouse, and other venues as needed.  Including: onstage/backstage, studio spaces and lobbies.
Serves as Technical Manager on all Cornish productions in Cornish Venues, in conjunction with Department Technical Coordinators, Venue Managers and Staff.
Attends technical rehearsals as required and monitors progress and scheduling of all technical and design areas.
Sets all IATSE work calls in collaboration with Cornish/Rental Client representatives as required.
Processes, supervises and coordinates all logistics associated with the load-in, run and load-out of scenery, props, and lighting for the Cornish Playhouse. Oversees Venue Managers with logistics in all other venues.

Shop Responsibilities
Oversee Scene Shop Supervisor, Props/Paint Supervisor and Costume Shop Supervisor.
Build effective Shop Schedules in conjunction with Staff and the Schedule of Classes.
Create and oversee build schedules with Shop Supervisor, and College production Technical Directors.
Budget for and schedule additional labor as needed.

Minimum Qualifications
Undergrad Degree in Technical Theater or Production or equivalent experience
Five to seven years’ experience in a theater environment, educational or professional
Three to Five years’ experience in management
Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate
Supervisory experience in theatrical production setting; strong leadership skills
Ability to work effectively with a diverse population and a variety of constituents
Experience working as carpenter with wood, metal, foam, and other common scenic materials
Experience using PC and Mac computer; working knowledge of Google Drive, proficient in Sheets for budgeting
Understanding of design process
Experience with general rigging principles and demonstrated ability to rig safely
Comfortable working above the stage floor either on grid and/or catwalks
Demonstrated ability to work with professional production teams, performers, and theater staff
Strong budgeting and organizational skills; proven ability to effectively manage multiple priorities
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to effectively communicate, both orally and in writing
Ability to lift 50-70 pounds repeatedly, either alone or with assistance from others
CPR/First aid certification (training provided)
Washington State Drivers’ License and safe driving record
Must pass background check

Preferred qualifications:
Experience working in a higher education or not-for-profit environment
AutoCAD and VectorworksCAD software proficiency
ETCP Certified Rigger-Theater
Experience Hanging/Managing Galleries
Experience working with a Union CBA

Department:  Creative Spaces & Event Spaces (CSES)
Reports To:  Director of CSES
Supervises:  Shop staff, stagehands and work study students, both union and non-union
Pay Scale:  Hourly annual compensation $50,000-$61,000
FLSA Status: Non-Exempt
Work Schedule: Varies to accommodate Venue and Shop schedules; includes possible weekends, holidays, and evening work
