Terrain Gallery, Spokane / 2019 Exhibition / Call for Artists

Deadline
January 1, 1970

Type: N/A

Discipline:

From now until February 3rd, (submissions deadline) Terrain is accepting exhibit ideas for our permanent gallery space during the 2019 exhibition schedule.

The Terrain Gallery is approximately 1,500 square feet and is located in the Historic Washington Cracker Building, a building which has been restored and is now a unique ecosystem that includes Inland Pacific Kitchen, Hogwash Whiskey Den, Overbluff Winery, Anvil Coffee Roasters, a performing arts space, yoga studio, and office spaces. Pictures of the gallery as well as gallery renderings can be found here.

We are looking for an array of proposals including two dimensional, sculptural, installation, video, audio (artist must supply equipment), interactive, or experimental artworks.

There will be special consideration for proposals that have built-in programming and/or are easily programmable. I.e. community events that can be tied into an exhibit theme, be it a reading, a workshop, or any other kind of community-centered gathering.

Individual artists, artists teams, or proposals for curated themes are all eligible. We put a special emphasis on local artists (i.e. the Inland Northwest region), but are accepting and will consider proposals from beyond our immediate area.

Selected applicants will work with Terrain’s Exhibit Preparator to successfully install the show. Each show has a small installation budget to cover things like artist labels and title walls.

Most exhibitions will be one-month in duration following our First Friday schedule, however we may extend exhibitions depending on where they land in the exhibit cycle. Depending on what’s submitted, we may also pair two different proposals together.

It’s important to note, in June we will be participating in Spokane’s first ever Queer Art Walk. June’s Queer Art Walk will be a group show. We will have a separate application process for that month-long event.
