ELIGIBILITY:
This exhibition is open to artists in any media and subject matter. Artists must be age 18 or up. All work must have been completed in the past 3 years and never previously exhibited at Emerge. All pieces must fit through a standard sized door. Work must be available for entire exhibition. Video entries are accepted, but special equipment must be provided. Work must be “ready to hang” or will not be eligible.

ENTRIES & FEES:
Each artist may submit up to 5 entries. The entry fee is $20 for three entries and $5 for each additional entry with a limit of five entries. All work must be labeled with title and artist at time of delivery, if accepted.

DEADLINES:
Entries must be submitted online by Aug. 31, 2019.
Accepted work must be shippped by Wednesday, Sept. 25 and hand delivered by Thursday, Sept. 26 – Friday, Sept. 27, between 10am-8pm, and Saturday, Sept. 28, 10am-12pm. If shipped; received by September 25th.

PICK UP OF ACCEPTED WORK:
Accepted work must be picked up by Friday, Oct. 25, 2019 between 10am-8pm or Saturday, Oct. 26 between 10am-4pm, or must have a prepaid mailing label for return shipping. Work left after pick-up date will become property of Emerge Gallery, unless other arrangements are made.

AWARDS:
There will be three cash awards:
1st Place – $500
2nd Place – $250
3rd Place – $100

COMMISSION:
It is assumed that all work is for sale unless noted with an insurance value. Emerge will retain a 40% commission (30% for ECU Students). If work is not for sale, an insurance value must be given and NFS stated or work will not be insured. Paymentwill be mailed within 45 days of the end of the exhibition.

EXHIBITION DATES:
October 4-24, 2019. The opening reception will be held on Friday, October 4th from 5 -8pm.

JUROR:
Kiki Farish
Farish is known for her emotive pencil paintings, conjuring moments of clarity amid the ambiguity of grays. She draws flowers and other organics, often past their prime, with great tenderness, portraying tiny delicate details next to harsh aggressive marks in pools of contradictions.
Farish received the 2014-15 North Carolina Arts Council Fellowship, renewing her interest in feminist issues. She has completed the Jentel Artist Residency in Wyoming, the New York Mills Artist Residency in Minnesota and two Penland Winter Residencies in North Carolina. The City of Raleigh, NC, commissioned a video statement, Artist Block Series: Kiki Farish, which can be viewed on YouTube. She has a public studio at Artspace in downtown Raleigh.
Farish has exhibited in a number of North Carolina venues, including the N.C. Museum of Art and Artspace in Raleigh, the Southeastern Contemporary Museum of Art in Winston-Salem, GreenHill in Greensboro and the Greenville Museum of Art in Greenville. Farish received her Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Mathematics from Meredith College in Raleigh and her Master of Fine Arts degree in Painting and Drawing from East Carolina University in Greenville. Serving as an adjunct professor at Meredith allows her to revisit her alma mater and interact with a new generation of women striving to grow.
