the seattle residency project
THE BORING BASICS
The seattle residency project is an introductory 6-month project to experiment with ideas of creative community to inform a future residency/think tank based out of Seattle, WA. By offering the benefits of a residency program, we hope to find artists from different backgrounds with unique views who are interested in pushing the boundaries of their own practice as well as the conversations around them, particularly in regards to community building among artists. The Seattle residency project provides an opportunity for Seattle artists working in a wide range of visual disciplines to practice in a uniquely renovated space in the heart of the Ravenna neighborhood for a period of 6 months.
For the duration of the 6 months, residency participants are provided with 24/7 access to private studio space, dedicated exhibition space and access to The Ravenna Collaboratory coworking and event spaces. Additionally, for the first 4 months, participants will receive professional and community support provided by the current Ravenna Collaboratory Artists-in-Residence and will be asked to commit to
spending a minimum of 15 hours in their studio.
During this time, participants will also be required to attend weekly community dinners and #WIP nights.
