About

Cozette Phillips is an artist, educator, curator, and gallery director based in Spokane, Washington. She holds a MFA in Metals from the State University of New York at New Paltz and a BFA in Sculpture and Illustration from the Columbus College of Art and Design. Her sculptural practice explores the relationship between natural and constructed environments within the context of the Anthropocene, utilizing casting, fabrication, and multimedia processes.

Phillips has exhibited her work nationally and internationally and has participated in artist residencies across the United States and abroad. She currently serves as Fine Arts Instructor and Gallery Program Director at Spokane Falls Community College. From 2016 to 2021, she was Associate Professor of Art and Sculpture at Columbia Basin College and has been a member of the Washington State Arts Commission Curator Roster since 2019. In 2025, through her role at Spokane Colleges, she founded the sƛ̓x̣etkʷ Artist-in-Residence program, which supports cultural preservation, community engagement, and professional growth for Native American artists. Phillips is committed to advancing equitable and sustainable support systems for artists across Washington State.
