UPDATE (August 24, 2021):

Thanks to support and feedback from our community, we are increasing the number of grants available in the Puget Sound region for our 2021 Grants for Artists’ Progress (GAP) Award cycle! Funding will increase from 10 to 25 awards, totaling $37,500 for BIPOC artists living in the Puget Sound region, including Island, King, Kitsap, San Juan, Snohomish, Skagit, Pierce, and Whatcom counties.

This increase allows us to maintain support at a level closer to previous years for the most densely populated and diverse region in our State while we simultaneously work to increase funding in Washington State regions and artist communities not historically reached through Artist Trust’s granting programs.

We are still applications until Tuesday, September 7 at 11:59 p.m. PST. For more information see the Guidelines and FAQ.

For application support, please attend our open Study Hall session on August 31 from 1-3 p.m, or watch our Applying for the 2021 GAP Awards webinar.

July 2021

Over the past several months, our team has worked with artists and partners statewide to re-envision GAP for the 2021 award cycle to be more responsive to artists and communities with the highest need for support. We are excited to announce Grants for Artists’ Progress, a $1,500 hybrid need-and-merit-based regional award providing unrestricted funding for Washington State artists of all disciplines who identify as Black, Indigenous, and people of color (BIPOC).

Funding will be evenly distributed across five Washington State regions: North Central, South Central, Puget Sound, East, and West, with $15,000 allocated to support artists in each. For more information see the Guidelines and FAQ. Applications open on August 2 with a deadline of Tuesday, September 7 at 11:59 p.m. PST.

2021 is a year of learning, development, and transformation. This program will help to shape future grantmaking at Artist Trust. Thank you for being on this journey with us!
