The ACLU (American Civil Liberties Union) is a private non-profit organization that seeks to protect individual liberties, particularly those rights guaranteed in the Bill of Rights of the U.S. Constitution. The ACLU provides know-your-rights literature, self-advocacy tools, and referrals to appropriate organizations and government agencies. Depending upon resources, the ACLU is sometimes able to provide limited legal advocacy.
