Born and raised in Tehran, Amir moved to Seattle at 23 to pursue his PhD in Fluid Mechanics at the University of Washington (UW). 15 years later, he is now a research scientist and a writer/poet wannabe based in Seattle. As a research scientist, he spends his days trying to understand the sense of touch and skin motion. In the morning and at night, he tries to navigate his way towards becoming a writer and a poet. He is also a co-founder of ANTiPODE, an art organization focused on the immigrant experience, which aims to connect Seattle with other cities through group art exhibitions and live events.
