On February 4, the Artist Trust Fellowship Awards application opened with TWO NEW OPPORTUNITIES for artists! The Yayasan Bali Purnati Residency, a month-long residency on the island of Bali including airfare, food and lodging, and a private studio space, and the Vadon Foundation Fellowship Award for Native Artists, an unrestricted award of $10,000 to a Native artist of any discipline residing in Washington State.

About Artist Trust Fellowship: Fellowships are merit-based awards of $10,000 to practicing professional artists of exceptional talent and ability residing in Washington State. These unrestricted awards are given annually to 8+ artists in recognition of artistic excellence and dedication to their practice.

About the Yayasan Bali Purnati Residency: Yayasan Bali Purnati (YBP) is a center for the arts located on the island of Bali in Indonesia. Their mission is to engage in all art fields and especially in the development of ground-breaking works fusing original Asian traditions with contemporary artistic treatment.Through the Artist Trust Yayasan Bali Purnati Residency, a Washington State artist of any discipline will be awarded a one-month residency at YBP. The residency takes place September-November 2019 or January 2020 (depending on availability) and includes airfare, food and lodging, and a private studio space. About the Vadon Foundation Fellowship Award for Native Artists: The Vadon Foundation Fellowship Award for Native Artists is an unrestricted award of $10,000 to a Native artist of any discipline residing in Washington State. The Vadon Foundation supports innovative, community-based initiatives that sustain healthy thriving indigenous nations in perpetuity. The Foundation supports programs working to ensure that every successive generation of indigenous people and culture will face an increasingly brighter future of healthy self-determination, autonomy, evolution, and sustainability. Who is Eligible: Artists 18 years of age or older by application deadline; Washington State residents at the time of application and payment; Generative artists: those who are the originators of works of art.

Who is NOT Eligible: Recipients of AT Fellowships from 2011–2018; Recipients of two prior AT Fellowships (artists may receive up to two Fellowships in a lifetime); Previous recipients of the James W. Ray Distinguished Artist or Arts Innovator Awards; Recipients of more than one AT grant per calendar year; Graduate or undergraduate, matriculated students enrolled in any degree program at the deadline date of March 4, 2019; Current AT staff, Board of Trustees, honorary committee, consultants, contractors, current AT Fellowship panelists, or their immediate family.

Panel Information: The Fellowship selection panel consists of five people from a diversity of artistic, professional, and personal backgrounds. Panelists are selected from a variety of disciplines, ages, genders, geographies (within and outside Washington State), ethnicities, and stages in their careers. Panelists’ names are released at the end of the confidential review process when award recipients are announced.
