Apple Plotnick Jannotta

Apple Plotnick Jannotta is a Virginia-born, short story writer, and realistic fiction author. Her current work, The Market, is a dystopian fiction novel, which aims to evoke a modern vision of “The Jungle” through a futuristic Amazon.com warehouse-like environment. She has been published in the Washington Post Sunday Magazine and won an ACLU award for her poetry. She is a graduate of Kenyon College, and holds a Merited Master’s degree in International Security from the University of Birmingham. A CIA recruit, she is known for weaving economics and geopolitics into her morality-based fiction. Understanding that her role was to positively alter the world via fiction and not spy for the government, Apple moved to the liberal enclave of Seattle to begin her fiction career. A 2016 graduate of Washington State’s Artist’s Trust Literary EDGE Program, Apple writes outside of Seattle. Reach her at booksbyapple.com.

Apple received a 2017 GAP Award to pay for travel and research to complete her manuscript, The Market, and for fees to attend a writing conference where she can connect with agents and other writers.
