About
Bernice Ye is a stand-up comedian and writer based in the Pacific Northwest. Born and raised in China, she came to the US by herself to pursue a Master’s Degree in Computer Science from Purdue University. She also holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science from Peking University. Frustrated with the lack of authentic presentations of first-generation immigrant stories, she started stand-up comedy in 2018 and immediately fell in love. After working in the tech industry for 15 years, Bernice left her leadership position to focus full-time on stand-up comedy in February 2021.
Refreshing, witty, and adorably honest, Bernice’s sense of humor and hysterical act-outs surprise the audience with her originality, leaving them with memorable punchlines while learning something new about her culture. Her comedy appeals to all types of audiences, whether it’s in a metropolitan city like Seattle, or a small town like Grants Pass, Oregon. She has featured for national headliners Steve Brown and Nate Jackson, and performed at the New York Comedy Festival, San Diego Comedy Festival, AV Comedy Festival, Northwest Women’s Comedy Festival, Crazy Woke Asians, Intersections Festival, as well as clubs and theatres all over the west coast. In a world that’s more divided than ever, Bernice’s passion is to bridge cultures and empower immigrants through humor and personal stories.
