Christian Swenson

Christian Swenson received 2010 GAP Award funding to pay artist rehearsal and performance fees, performance space rental, and supplies associated with developing a new collaboration. Christian is planning a six-month rehearsal period culminating in a performance piece blending acapella voice and Human Jazz/Butoh-influenced physicality. The final performance will be in an informal studio or gallery space. Viewers should expect beautiful and unusual vocals, extreme cartoon-like physicality, predator/prey behavior, mysterious and touching human interaction, and the combined presence of two powerful solo performers.

Christian also received an Artist Trust Fellowship in 1990, and GAP Awards in 1988, 1996, and 1998.
