About

Darishma Alphonse aka D33Light is a third-generation South Asian multi-disciplinary artist. Born in the United Kingdom, she began her dance education in Bharat Natyam, Indian classical dance at the age of seven. Four years later, she immigrated to Canada where she continued learning and performing this rigorous and gracefully dance. As a teen, she had the opportunity to learn various Indian folk styles, including Bhangra a fast-paced energetic style of dance from the region of Panjab, India, and Raas Garba a clap and stick dance style from Gujarat, India. D33Light is also a multi-disciplinary visual artist, primarily working with acrylic on canvas depicting various aspects of yoga asanas, Hindu deities, and self-portraits. She also works with graphite and charcoal to create images of family life in monochrome. In the last few months, D33Light has shifted her art focus to creating public art within her community. She recently completed co-creating community murals for GRuB, Thurston Climate Action Team, and Southwest Olympia Neighborhood Association all non-profit organizations. She currently resides with her family in Olympia WA.
